Terms of Use & License Agreement
Effective date: July 21, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Cloister (the "App"), a macOS application provided by Dochi (도치), a sole proprietorship registered in the Republic of Korea ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The App and tiers
Cloister is a focus timer for macOS. It offers a free tier and a paid Cloister Pro upgrade. Pro is a one-time, lifetime license — you pay once and Pro does not renew or expire.
2. License grant
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the App on Macs you own or control, up to the activation limit associated with your license key. Cloister Pro features are unlocked by activating a valid license key.
3. Your license key
Your license key is personal to you. You are responsible for keeping it confidential and for activity under it. Please do not publish, share, resell, or distribute your license key. We may deactivate a key that is shared or used in violation of these Terms.
4. Restrictions
You agree not to: (a) copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App except as permitted by law; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except to the extent applicable law expressly permits; (c) rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App or license keys; or (d) circumvent, disable, or interfere with license, security, or update mechanisms.
5. Ownership
The App is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the App, including all intellectual property rights. You own the data you create in the App, which is stored locally on your device.
6. Purchases and payment
Cloister Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record and is the seller for the transaction. Your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service. Prices are shown at checkout; applicable taxes are handled by Lemon Squeezy.
7. Refunds
Refunds are described in our Refund Policy and are processed through Lemon Squeezy. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
8. Updates
The App may check for and install updates automatically. Updates are provided to improve or maintain the App and are governed by these Terms unless accompanied by separate terms.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost — keep your own backups of anything important.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Termination
These Terms apply until terminated. Your license ends automatically if you materially breach these Terms (for example, by misusing your license key). Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) will survive termination.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence provides otherwise.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes take effect on the new effective date; continued use of the App means you accept the updated Terms.
